Stopover
About Stopover

A road trip you play with real places

You get a start and a destination. Get there by naming real towns along the way, each one within reach of the last. The better you know the map, the better you score. It’s free, it runs in your browser, and there’s a new trip every day.

How to play

Three steps. The first trip shows you around.

Name a town in range

Type any real city, town or village of 500 people or more within reach of where you are. The dashed ring on the map shows how far your tank takes you.

Keep moving

Every leg uses fuel and every stop refuels you. Big cities fill the tank; villages only top it up, but they score far more. A very short hop scores less.

Reach the destination

Arriving adds a bonus on top of what your stops scored, and longer trips pay more. In Stopover World you collect flags and passport stamps along the way.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes. Coins come from playing and buy cosmetics and supplies; nothing is sold for real money.

Do I need an account?

No. The daily game needs no account at all, and Stopover World lets you play as a guest. An account adds the leaderboards and keeps your progress on any device.

Where is my progress saved?

The daily game keeps it in this browser until you sign in. A Stopover World guest game lasts until you close the tab. With an account it is saved on our server too, so it follows you to any device.

I don’t know the map well. Is it for me?

Yes. In Stopover World, pick Well-known places in the planner: trips start and end at places most people have heard of (they score ×0.90). New players start there, and suggestions help as you type.

Why can’t I find a town?

Places come from GeoNames: every city, town and village of 500 people or more, under its own name and, for bigger places, its English and other names too. If one is missing, tell us.

Which languages?

English, German, Ukrainian, Russian and Georgian. The game picks your browser’s language.
