Stopover

Terms of use

The rules for playing Stopover. Last updated 1 November 2026.

1. What this is

Stopover is a free geography game run as a hobby by Finn and Luka. Contact: support@playstopover.me. By playing you agree to these terms. There is no fee, no subscription and no in-game purchase for money.

2. Accounts

You may play without an account. If you create one, keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your username. One person, one account; do not use someone else’s. You may delete your account at any time (Profile → Account).

3. Fair play

The game relies on honest play. You must not use bots, scripts or automation; tamper with saves, scores, race reports or requests; exploit bugs for coins, flags or rank; or interfere with other players’ games. We may remove scores and progress that look like cheating, and suspend accounts (section 5).

4. Names and text you provide

Usernames are generated (a colour, a fruit and a number). Display names (2-24 characters: letters, digits, spaces and . _ ' -), mottos and your icon are seen by everyone: keep them civil. No insults, hate, slurs, sexual content, impersonation of other players or anything illegal. A display name reported by three different players is removed automatically; we may change or remove any name, motto or icon without notice.

Friends, public races and chat. Use friend requests and race invites for people you want to play with; don’t spam them. Quick chat only offers preset phrases and emoji; using them to harass someone is still harassment. You can block any player. We may hide a public race listing, or a host’s tags, that break these terms.

5. Moderation

We may suspend an account that breaks these terms: hidden (left off boards, crowns, races, bounties, display names and community posts; solo play and saves continue) or locked (no access at all), for 1, 3, 7, 14, 30, 90 or 180 days or permanently. The reason is shown on your login screen. Write to support@playstopover.me to appeal.

6. Coins, items, perks and codes

Coins, supplies, perks, cosmetics, titles, streaks, shields and crowns are game features with no money value. They cannot be bought, sold, traded or cashed out. We may reset, rebalance or remove them when we change the game, fix bugs or undo cheating. Redeem codes are promotional, usable once per account, and may be limited or withdrawn at any time.

7. Races, bounties, quests and the crate

Daily quests and the crate give in-game items and coins only; what the crate holds is shown in the game, it costs nothing, and nothing in it can be bought. Race entry fees and bounties move in-game coins between players only; public races are always free to enter. They are between the players involved; we run the lobby and record results but are not a party to a wager, and nothing of money value is at stake. Leaving a race counts as giving up.

8. Availability and changes

This is a hobby project. The game, its rules, scoring, features and these terms may change, and the service may pause or stop, at any time without notice. We make no promise of availability. Progress may be lost through bugs, outages or changes; we do not guarantee backups and cannot restore lost progress.

9. Content and rights

The game, its artwork and text belong to its makers or their licensors (see the credits on the About page). You may share screenshots and your share lines freely. You keep the rights to the names and mottos you write, and allow us to show them in the game and in our community posts.

10. Liability

The game is provided free of charge and “as is”. To the extent permitted by German law, we are liable only for intent and gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health; liability under the Product Liability Act stays unaffected. For slight negligence we are liable only for the breach of essential contractual duties, limited to the typical foreseeable damage.

11. Law

German law applies, excluding the UN Sales Convention. If you are a consumer in another EU country, the mandatory consumer protections of your country still apply.

12. Privacy and contact

How we handle your data is in the Privacy notice. Contact: support@playstopover.me (players) · hello@playstopover.me (everything else).
